Because of that design, Nespresso-branded machines can’t form a proper seal on pods from other brands, which means they can’t brew them correctly. So if you’re a fan of Illy, Peet’s, La Colombe, or any other specialty roaster, you’re usually stuck with thin, underwhelming coffee.

Our BCG system integrates a specialized gasket directly into the Brew Chamber and optimizes pressure, temperature, and timing so every capsule, from any brand, tastes the way it should.

Plastic Parts & Weak Seals

This infographic shows what’s happening inside a standard Nespresso OriginalLine machine. Even though Nespresso capsules are made of aluminum, the parts that actually brew your coffee are not - the puncture filter is plastic, and both the primary and secondary spouts are plastic as well. You’ll also notice a built-in leak path that lets water and partially brewed coffee escape around the capsule. That leak isn’t an accident. It’s there because most third-party pods can’t form a proper seal inside a Nespresso machine, so the system needs somewhere for that bypassed liquid to go.

By eliminating plastic from the hottest, highest-pressure part of the machine, the Line1 dramatically reduces the risk of microplastics ending up in your cup. At the front of the Brew Chamber, a precision-molded gasket compresses around the capsule as the machine closes, forming a perfectly tight seal no matter which brand you use.
